How does it work?

About Generative Art

What is generative art?

The term generative art describes works based on an algorithmic code, a limited set of rules or a mathematical formula. While that process is defined by the artist, it can be automated and enriched with deliberately introducing layers of randomness into the algorithm. This results in a great variety of possible outcomes and makes a work of generative art a sort of machine and artist collaboration.

How are variations generated at ayke.shop?

Each variation is generated with the system's live code directly in your device's browser. Depending on the system, frequent use of the new variation function may be computationally expensive and thus have a higher energy consumption than a normal shop page. These only occur during the generation-process.

How do you guarantee the uniqueness of every edition?

Our systems are designed such that generating the exact same edition twice is practically impossible. If you manage to do it, you should 1. contact us and 2. try your luck at the lottery. Additionally to the systems design, every purchased unique edition’s identifier is being recorded on a sold list, preventing any second purchase of that edition.

Fine Art Prints

What paper do you use?

We exclusively use fine art paper by Hahnemühle for your unique editions. This structured, strong and 100% cotton handmade paper is especially suitable for fine art printing. This paper has the highest aging resistance, achieved by acid and lignin free manufacturing and is ISO9706 compliant.If you order your unique edition as print only, a 1cm white border is added around the artwork. This gives your fine art print a more refined appearance, and makes it easy to put in a passe-partout mat for framing.

What materials are the āyke frames made of?

Our gallery frames are made of oak wood veneer and highest quality anti-reflective float glass. All frames are custom made at our production partner's in-house carpenter's workshop for each unique fine art print. Depending on your framed artworks size we attach two or four Aluminum rails to the back of your frame.

What is included when I order a framed fine art print?

The order of a framed fine art print includes the print of your chosen artwork, the gallery frame you opted for and a digital Certificate of Authenticity as PDF. The certificates for each unique print will be sent to you via a separate email when your order has been shipped. Your framed fine art prints come ready framed and with pre-installed wall-mounts. We attach two or four Aluminum rails to the back of your frame depending on your artworks size.Hanging your fine art print can generally be done with at least two screws or hooks anchored or screwed into holes in the wall. Before hanging your framed print on your wall, please check the appropriate hanging method depending on the weight of your product and the condition of your wall. We are not liable for any damages that may occur.

Are artworks in āyke frames changeable?

No, our current frames have premium seals and are not suitable for changing out artworks.

Are all framed āyke products supplied with a passe-partout?

Yes, all framed fine art prints are framed with a modern, 3cm wide, white passe-partout.

Do you have a physical store?

No, we do not have a retail space or showroom at this time.

Gift vouchers

How do I buy gift vouchers?

Select the desired voucher value on our gift voucher product page and complete the order. You will immediately receive an email with the voucher code and a lovingly designed PDF document to print out if you would like to give it away in an envelope or card. Please enter the voucher code there. This code must be entered in the checkout of the gift´s recipient when placing an order. The value of the voucher will then be automatically deducted from the order during checkout.

How can I see the current balance on the gift voucher?

If the value of the voucher exceeds the order value, the remaining amount will be credited to your customer account and can be used for your next order by simply entering the voucher code again. A cash-payout of the (remaining) value of the voucher is excluded. For technical reasons, the current credit of a voucher can only be deducted at checkout. If you need to know the current credit, without going through the checkout process, please contact us.

How do I give a gift voucher?

You will immediately receive an email with the voucher code and a thoughtfully designed PDF document to print out if you would like to give it away in an envelope or card. Please enter the voucher code there. This code must be entered in the checkout of the gift recipient when placing an order. The value of the voucher will then be automatically deducted from the order value.


I have entered wrong information when I placed my order.

Please contact us as soon as possible so that we can prevent your order from being delivered to an incorrect address. Simply use this customer support form and provide your order number and corrected information.

Can I cancel or make changes to my order after purchase?

Cancellation or making changes to an order are only possible within the same business day of your order. After that your order will be prepared for production. Since all of our products are custom made one-of-a-kind and individually manufactured for you on purchase, it is not possible to make changes or cancel your order when production has already started.

How do I know that my order has been successful?

You will receive an automatic order confirmation to the email address you provided usually within minutes after placing your order. The email contains all details about your order. Please take a second to check your order details, since you can not make any changes or withdraw from your purchase after production has started (usually at the start of the next business day).

I have not received an order confirmation

First, check the spam folder of your email account. If you have not received an order confirmation email within an hour after placing your order, please contact us informally via our contact form.

What payment types do you accept?

We accept VISA, Mastercard, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Shop Pay by Shopify and Sofortüberweisung for payments.

Shipping and Returns

What countries does āyke deliver to?

You can find a list of countries we currently ship to, and all the shipping rates, in our table of shipping costs.

How are my products shipped?

Your ayke order will be shipped in custom art security packaging with our selected shipping partners. Unless otherwise specified, your order will be delivered to the shipping address you provided. We currently ship from Germany to these countries.

How much does shipping cost?

How long does the delivery take?

You can find the estimated delivery times depending on your selected options and your country here.

How do I check the status of my order?

We automatically send you email updates on the status of your order. You will receive an order confirmation immediately after you place your order and a shipping confirmation, once your product has been shipped. In the shipping confirmation, you will find the parcel number and a tracking link to follow your delivery.

How can I track my order?

Customers with an āyke account: Log in to your account and click on the Orders section to find tracking details. Guests: Orders placed without an account can be tracked via the track my order link in your order shipment email. If you don’t have an account, you can create one here! So long as the email address used to create an account is the same as the one used to place the order, your account will display the order details within the new account.

What happens if I have not received my order?

Please check the current location of your order with your tracking code link from the shipping confirmation and contact our shipping provider directly if you have any questions. Has the package already been delivered according to the tracking code? Then please check your mailbox for notices from our shipping providers. Still no luck? Contact us directly, so we can further investigate your case.

Right of Revocation & Complaints

I want to revoke my order.

We would like to point out that all generative fine art print products non-prefabricated goods made on the basis of an individual choice of or decision by the consumer. Such products are excluded from the right of revocation under § 312g BGB (Right of withdrawal) (German Civil Code), as the works are made according to the Clients individual specifications and are clearly personalized (§ 312g BGB (2) no. 1). Please contact us immediately if you have made a mistake in your order, in some cases we may be able to stop the order before production starts! More information can be found in our terms and conditions.

What happens if my order arrives damaged?

Please check your delivery directly in the presence of the delivery person. If you find damages, you should refuse the delivery. Then contact our customer service so that they can get a replacement made right away. For fast processing it is very helpful to email photos documenting the damage to our customer service team. In the event that you have already accepted the order before spotting damage(s), please contact our customer service right away. Please keep the original packaging in case the goods need to be shipped back.
